Accreditation puts our hard work and achievement in the spotlight, creating buzz and excitement around Hope Online School (and yes, it's great for marketing too!).
Hope Online School has been recognized as a Candidate for Accreditation with the Middle States Association (MSA)—a key milestone on the path to full accreditation.
MSA’s process is professional peer review for the purpose of growth and improvement. It’s structured yet flexible—it helps us refine our vision, assess current practices, and turn that learning into a concrete, actionable plan.”Why Accreditation? Why Now? Hope Online School selected MSA at this time to advance priorities that matter to our community:
-Post-Graduate Opportunities. MSA accreditation supports our plan to grant an American diploma that is globally recognized, ensuring every door possible is available to our first graduating class.
-Strong Foundations of Organizational and Academic Success. MSA’s five standards and key concepts prompt deep reflection across every part of our school, yielding stronger systems and an improved academic program families can count on.
-Data-Backed Improvement. MSA asks us to gather and use data from our own community, keeping improvement tied to real needs—not hypothetical opportunities.
Why Middle States Association?
MSA has been inspiring wise change in schools and school leaders for 135 years, supporting 3,200+ schools and over 2 million students across 117 countries. Hope Online School chose MSA because:
-Guides, not gatekeepers. MSA is staffed by former school leaders who offer perspective, wisdom, and steady support at each step—people who have been in our shoes.
Lean, fast, focused timeline. Many schools complete the journey in 6–12 months, with Commission decisions in April and November, helping us plan launches, hiring, and budgets with confidence.
Implementation over paperwork. The self-study doubles as an implementation framework that produces useful artifacts—policies and one-pagers our team will actually use—sharpening identity rather than diluting it.
What Happens Next
As a Candidate for Accreditation, Hope Online School has completed an organization-wide self-study centered on three questions:
1. Who are we becoming?
2. What does the next best version of our organization look like? Where do we currently stand relative to our vision and to MSA’s standards of Foundations, Governance and Organization, Student Well-Being, Resources, and Teaching & Learning? What evidence supports this?
3. How will we bridge the gap between where we are and where we’d like to be—and what strengths and resources in our community will bring this change to life?
After our self-study was completed, a small team of professional peer reviewers—educational leaders from the MSA community—came to visit our campus as “critical friends,” celebrating strengths and identifying areas for improvement.
At the conclusion of their visit, the team determined to recommend Hope Online School for accreditation by the Middle States Association Commission. Accreditation is not a pass/fail exam or a one-size-fits-all checklist, rather it’s a competency-based journey that aligns with our strategic plan so the same goals guide both—feeding directly into priorities, budgets, and timelines.
Next step—MSA will make it official at their bi-annual meeting in Nov.
